It is a small world after all!

Newbie

Newbius Amadeus deMunk

Newbie is the latest addition to our chippy family.  He was born in the spring of 2006 and as soon as he was old enough to be on his own, he moved into Chip E. deMunks den under the patio.  He's a cute little guy, but he will be a chipmunk to be reckoned with.  He's staked out his territory on the back stoop and no one is allowed to visit when he is around.

Newbie - Killroy was here.

Kilroy was Here.

Newbie has a great time in the woodpile next to the stoop.  He likes to play hide and seek with us.  When we put seeds out on the stoop for him, he always plays his Kilroy game by standing on the woodpile and looking over the top of the stoop.  He will eat from our hand, but he's still very shy.  He's got a great stash for the winter, but when you're a chipmunk, it's never enough.

Newbius - 2/23/07 - A sure sign of spring.

Newbie was the first one up this year.  I bet he's got cold chippy toes.

This little chipmunk moved out not long after this picture was taken.  I'm sure he found a beautiful little girl chipmunk out in the woods just waiting for a good looking chippy to run by.

Newbie did come by for a visit from time to time.  It didn't take long for him to exhibit bite wounds and scratches from protecting his new territory.  He aged a lot the first year he was out on his own.
