Our chipmunks have been
very busy adding new
products to our store.
 We still feature our
chipmunks on our mugs,
t-shirts, sweatshirts, and
hoodies, but we've also
added many new decorative
items.  We especially
like our new I-pod and
I-pad covers and new
items for babies in
addition to water bottles
and thermos containers.

Hope you enjoy your visit.

 Our Friend Amos

The Shed
The Shed

When my friend Amos built a shed in the yard, it was a great day for this chipmunk.  As soon as he stopped hammering and sawing and making a racket, I began my own excavation underneath the floor of the building.  What a great place to live!  My den is always dry and warm; I have lots of wood piles and a big stonewall to play in; and I always have plenty of sunflower seeds and fresh water within a few feet of my front door.

All the chipmunks got a  special treat not long after the shed was built.  Our friend Jane put a huge bag of corn feed inside the shed practically next to the front door.  It was so big you could have fit a couple of hundred chipmunks inside it standing upright nose to nose.  My mother, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles, and I found this treasure and we filled our dens for the upcoming winter.

Jane and Amos would watch us as we'd hop to the window sill and into the bag.  They kept cutting the bag back, and it was a good thing too because the more corn we removed, the harder it was to jump out of the bag.  When we finally emptied the bag of its contents, they threw it away and never replaced it.  It seems the corn was bought for some project Jane was working on.  Once we got into the bag that was the end of the project.  Sorry, Jane!  (hee-hee).

I like going into the shed to visit Amos.  He's always making a racket doing whatever it is he does.  I'm glad I'm not one of those wild animals that sleeps all day.  I'd have to move far into the woods to escape the noise.

I have to admit having a human around does make me feel secure, however.  It's great to have someone nearby that chases away the cats and dogs that wander through the yard.

Right now, I'm going out to the woods for supper and maybe pick up a few things for my stores.  It's been nice chatting with you and I hope you come back and visit again.

Munkey on my Back

Living on the edge of a forest here in Massachusetts is quite a treat.  We don't own a lot of land, but the woods provide us with an interesting and diversified group of backyard friends.   We are particularly fond of the Eastern chipmunks that have moved in under the back stoop, under the patio, under the shed, under the woodpile, and in the stone wall.  They provide us with hours of enjoyment as they frolic around the yard and are missed by all during the winter months when they retreat to their dens.

If it were not for my woodworking business, these charming animals may have gone unnoticed by me.  I often leave the doors open during warm periods and am visited regularly by the chipmunks who invariably get under foot scurrying from the front door to the back.

I hope you've enjoyed reading about our chipmunks.  Things are always changing around here so Jane will be updating this site periodically with new stories and new pictures of our backyard chipmunks and their friends.

Thanks for stopping by and do come again,

Amos Roberts
